Orientation Programs

EmBark Orientation

EmBark Orientation at UNC Asheville is the first and most important step in becoming a Bulldog and is required for your success at UNC Asheville. During embark Orientation, you will learn about academic advising, UNC Asheville’s curriculum, course registration processes, campus resources, and much more. Each embark session is also packed with opportunities to meet other new students!

EmBark Orientation is required for all incoming degree-seeking transfer and freshman students. Keep this in mind while creating travel and work plans. We want to provide a great foundation for you to start your academic career at UNC Asheville

For more information please visit the EmBark page.

Pre-Orientation Programs

Held in August every year before the beginning of classes, new students are invited to get a head start on their UNC Asheville education by delving into the many aspects of their new community. Pre-Orientation offers special-interest programs that showcase Asheville. Participation in Pre-Orientation allows students to move in early to the residence halls and meet fellow students and staff who share their interests.

Pre-Orientation Programs keeps our students active and engaged throughout the week. Please be prepared for at least a moderate level of physical activity. Each program involves walking, sitting, and participating in group activities throughout the week from breakfast through dinner-time. If you have any concerns about the level of physical activity, please reach out to our office to discuss further! We look forward to having you in the program!

Each program includes meals, instruction, equipment, and transportation.
