With the national mental health crisis continuing to escalate, friends and acquaintances of yours can often be struggling with challenging feelings which can include thoughts of suicide. If you are someone they trust, they may open up to you about their difficulties and you may wonder how to best navigate those conversations in a way that is helpful to them and can provide hope in a seemingly hopeless situation.
This semester, several sessions of what is called QPR training will be offered to prepare our campus community for navigating these kinds of issues. QPR stands for Question, Persuade, and Refer. The QPR mission is to reduce suicidal behaviors and save lives by providing innovative, practical and proven suicide prevention training. The signs of crisis are all around us. We believe that quality education empowers all people, regardless of their background, to make a positive difference in the life of someone they know.
The training sessions are 1-1.5 hours long. Dates and sign up information for training will be added soon. We look forward to seeing you!
